The secondhand market is predicted to be 1.5 times the size of traditional retail by 2028. At the same time, it is growing 22 times as fast. This explosive growth can be seen as a threat to independent retailers, but it also provides a new opportunity. We have to ask ourselves how we would like to buy clothing in the future, what kind of things we are interested in and how we would like to deal with the items that are not serving our purpose anymore. How can we integrate the re-use of resources into our daily life, a life which is busy, and which is centered around convenience?

Having developed Waior and Saleabl and launched them with positive response from our customers, we started to wonder whether it would be possible to integrate these tools into already existing solutions, so more people get the chance of easily reintroducing their used clothing into the lifecycle.

Re-Commerce for Retailers

Therefore, we launched our partnership program “Saleabl x partner store”. It allows our partners to join us in creating the most circular fashion industry possible, while re-covering the value that is hidden in people’s closet and put it in use. Did you know that 95% of discarded clothing could be re-used or recycled? Did you know that 50% of parents have items in their children’s closet that they don’t need at all? Saleabl allows people to use the value to buy something they really want to have. 

In practice this means that retailers integrate our buy-back solution onto their website, their customers sell their clothing to us and receive store credit at their favorite store so they can exchange something old for something new. By doing this, we prevent garments being underused, we support independent retailers by allowing them to participate in the growing secondhand market and we incentivize people to take responsible decisions when it comes to taking care of their clothing.
